Available as individual sleepers in a range of lengths and dimensions, the range includes 1.2m x 200mm x 100mm, 2.4m x 200mm x 100mm, 3m x 200mm x 100mm and 2.4m x 240mm x 120mm. The 1.2m sleepers are particularly useful for smaller landscaping projects and can be combined with longer sleepers to create rectangular raised beds, while the 3m and larger-section sleepers are well suited to retaining walls, borders and projects where longer spans or greater timber volume are beneficial.

The sleepers are pressure treated in green to help protect against rot, fungal decay and insect attack. Treatment varies by size: the 1.2m, 3m and 2.4m x 240mm x 120mm sleepers are UC3 treated, offering an expected lifespan of around 8–10 years, while the 2.4m x 200mm x 100mm sleeper is UC4 treated, offering an expected lifespan of up to 15 years and making it particularly suitable for more demanding applications involving ground contact. A larger-section sleeper providing additional timber depth and volume for substantial landscaping projects. This green-treated option is UC3 with an expected lifespan of around 8–10 years.

Timber Appearance & Maintenance

Green treated sleepers have a natural green appearance when supplied and will gradually weather when exposed to sunlight and the elements. Over time, the timber can develop through lighter brown tones before eventually becoming silvery grey.

If you wish to maintain or change the colour of the timber, a suitable exterior wood stain or preservative can be applied in accordance with the treatment manufacturer's recommendations.

If sleepers are cut using a circular saw, chainsaw or handsaw, newly exposed timber surfaces should be treated with an appropriate wood preservative to help maintain protection to the cut areas.
