Naturally dense and durable, oak sleepers have an expected lifespan of around 20 years without the need for preservative treatment, making them an excellent long-term investment for outdoor landscaping. They are supplied untreated with a rough-sawn finish and can be left to weather naturally, developing an attractive silvery-grey appearance, or they can be oiled or stained if you prefer to retain or enhance their natural colour.

Available in 1.2m, 2.4m and 3m lengths, these individual oak sleepers offer flexibility for landscaping projects of all sizes. The longer 2.4m and 3m lengths are particularly useful for retaining walls, borders and larger raised beds, while the 1.2m option is ideal for smaller garden projects. As these are fresh green oak, natural movement, splits, waney edges, knots, cracks and variations in grain and colour are to be expected. Oak Appearance & Treatment

These are untreated fresh green oak sleepers. Oak's natural density means they do not require preservative treatment for typical landscaping applications. If left untreated, the timber will naturally weather and develop a distinctive silvery-grey patina.

Alternatively, the sleepers can be oiled or stained to enhance their appearance or maintain a darker natural oak colour. Any treatment should be selected specifically for use with oak and exterior timber.

Because these sleepers are fresh green oak rather than kiln-dried timber, splits, cracks, waney edges, knots, movement and other natural irregularities are expected. These features are a normal characteristic of green oak and contribute to its rustic appearance.
