Sorbus Torminalis - Wild Service Tree

Sorbus torminalis, commonly known as Wild Service Tree, is a native British deciduous tree with upright sweeping branches and a rounded canopy. Typically found in old woodlands and hedgerows, it is also suitable for parks and large gardens.

For much of the year, the Wild Service Tree is inconspicuous, but it bursts into life in spring with clusters of pretty white blossoms and offers strong autumn colour as its lobed leaves turn a rich coppery red. It grows well on a wide variety of soils and provides both ecological and ornamental value.

The Wild Service Tree rarely needs pruning, but if required, light pruning should be undertaken during late winter or early spring, outside of the growing season. Hard pruning is not recommended.
