GT Grass Reinforcement Mesh GR14 is a heavy-duty 14mm grass reinforcement mesh designed to provide strong, permanent protection for existing grass areas subjected to regular vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Suitable for vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes on stable ground, GR14 creates a reinforced, permeable grass surface for domestic driveways, commercial parking, access routes and highly trafficked areas. Its raised, oscillated structure helps provide slip resistance while allowing grass to grow through and become intertwined with the mesh, creating a stable surface that can blend naturally into the surrounding landscape.

GR14 is quick and cost-effective to install directly over an existing grass surface, with no soil removal or excavation required. The mesh helps reduce grass wear, rutting, mud and soil compaction while allowing air and water to reach the grass roots. It is an environmentally conscious alternative to impermeable paving where maintaining a natural grassed traffic route is desirable, and is suitable for SuDS Source Control applications. For best results, the mesh should be rolled out over suitable existing grass and firmly secured using Premium Steel U-Pins. Allow the grass sufficient time to grow through and establish within the mesh before trafficking; it should generally be mown at least once before use. For additional grip and traction, a thin layer of sand can be applied over the mesh. Performance and load-bearing capacity depend on ground conditions, drainage, traffic frequency and correct installation.

Installation Guidance

GR14 is designed for straightforward installation over an existing grass surface. Roll the mesh out and secure it firmly using Premium Steel U-Pins. Once installed, allow sufficient time for the grass to grow through and become established within the mesh. This interlocking of grass and mesh provides the reinforcement and integrity of the finished surface.

The area should not be trafficked prematurely, as early use can cause sinking, bumps or damage to the grass and mesh. It is recommended to wait until the grass has been mown at least once before introducing traffic.

For additional grip and traction, a thin layer of sand can be applied over the mesh. Suitability depends on traffic frequency, vehicle type, soil conditions and drainage. GR14 is particularly suitable for heavy clay and loam soils.
