The Tubex Nature™ Shrub Shelter is a biodegradable shrub shelter designed to protect and enhance the growth of larger bushier plants with its wide diameter, designed for hard-to-reach areas where collection isn’t possible.
Tubex Nature™ Shrub Shelter is ideally suited to landscaping projects with mixed planting stock. The enhanced microclimate helps retain moisture and improves growth and survival rates, while offering protection against hares, rabbits and voles, as well as herbicides and weeding. Unlike spiral or net products, which can become embedded in the branches and bark of growing shrubs, Nature shrub shelter is quick and easy to install.
Product Benefits
Wide Diameter
- With diameters ranging from 130mm – 160mm, Nature Shrub Shelter offers the proven benefits of tree protection to bushier plants and shrubs that need extra space to grow. It is commonly used in landscaping projects with mixed planting stock.
Biodegradable in situ
- Tubex Nature™ is made from bio-based materials derived from sugarcane, corn & starch. It is externally tested against ISO 17556 to show soil biodegradability, and independently tested to show biodegradation on soil at ambient temperatures.
- Tubex Nature products can be left to biodegrade in situ and will, over time, start to degrade and breakdown into water and CO2 through a microbiological process.
Proven performance
- Robust twin-walled construction tested to perform with an expected 3-5 years service life, offering an improved microclimate, and protection against hares, rabbits and voles, herbicides and mechanical operations.
Non-toxic
- Externally tested against OECD 207 & 208
Easy installation
- Unlike spiral or net products, which can become embedded in the branches and bark of growing shrubs, Nature shrub shelter is quick and easy to install. Includes pre-fitted re-release ties, and tubes come nested for easy transportation and storage, whilst maintaining original shape.

The Tubex Nature™ Shrub Shelter offers the next generation of biodegradable tree shelters Tubex Nature is a range of tree shelters designed to be biodegradable and non toxic. Tubex Nature™ Shrub Shelter is a solution for nature when collection is difficult or sometimes impossible, the most sustainable alternative solution designed for areas with dense woodland and difficult access where collection and recycling is not practical.
The Tubex Nature™ Shrub Shelter has undergone extensive laboratory testing under heightened climatic conditions. The Tubex Nature Shelter displays all the same characteristics of traditional Tubex Nature™ Shrub Shelter, protecting against rabbits, deer, hares and spray drift from herbicides. The expected lifespan of the Tubex Nature Shelter is 5 years in-situ, dependant on climatic conditions and location of planting. It is recommended at the end of its lifespan the shelter is removed and industrially composted.
TUBEX Nature will over time start to degrade and breakdown into water and CO2 by a process of microbiology, rate and time period of bio-degradation depending on soil and climatic conditions. Mulching or burying Tubex Nature at its end of life will significantly increase the rate of this process.
