Green-tech takes time out to get involved in Mental Health Awareness Week

Landscape supplier Green-tech is a keen supporter of recognising Mental Health and has embraced Mental Health Awareness Week with a series of planned down-time events.

Mental Health Awareness Week is the UK’s national week which runs from 9th to 15th May 2022 and aims to raise awareness of mental health.

This year, the theme for the week is ‘Loneliness’. Across the country, people will be reflecting on loneliness and how it impacts our mental health. Long-term loneliness is closely linked to mental health problems such as depression and anxiety.

Green-tech’s HR team have organised a number of Wellbeing Walks throughout the week and all staff are being encouraged to take time away from their desks or work area to join a country-lane walk.

On Tuesday 10th May they also ran a Coffee, Cake and Colouring Afternoon where staff had access to mindfulness colouring books and information surrounding Mental Health and Loneliness, with the lure of relaxing music and home baked cakes.

HR Administrator, Charlotte Keithley comments, “I am delighted by the response we have received; the sessions have been so well attended. Mental health is a subject that Green-tech has been tackling for a few years now but this year I really felt the message is getting through, the culture has shifted, and barriers are being broken down. It was amazing to see a room full of adults taking a small amount of time out from their busy day and just concentrating on their colouring. We have run the wellness walks before but this year we have put on extra sessions to meet the demand. I have received such positive feedback and feel proud of the progress we are making.”

In addition, Green-tech staff have access to a series of webinars that are being run all week by their Employee Assistant Provider ‘Carefirst’.

Green-tech has several trained mental health first aiders and has plans to train more of its team. For more information visit www.green-tech.co.uk
